Alexis Grace Got Voted Out Of American Idol

The 21-year-old single mom from Memphis - Alexis Grace, got voted out of American Idol last week. She quite disappointed the judges with her rendition of the song Jolene by Dolly Parton on last week's Grand Ole Opry themed show. Kara DioGuardi said that Alexis' "lost her edge" on that song choice.

After Ryan announced Alexis' name as the one who had the least number of votes, she sang her song one last time but still did not impress the four judges and unanimously decided to not save her from being eliminated on the show.

"It was good, but it wasn't good enough," said Cowell. "Sorry. It's the end of the line I'm afraid."

Allison Iraheta and Michael Sarver joined Alexis at the bottom 3 last week and really felt relieved when they both learned that they're safe.

I wonder who's next to go home or be saved next week!

Meet My Friend Cathy...

That's me and Cathy

Me and Cathy have been friends since we were sophomores in college. I was a new student in that school and she was one of those few sensible people that I immediately made friends with back then. I rely on her not only on our projects and homeworks but also it's her that I turned to whenever I needed someone to help me decide on what to wear on my gigs (since I was doing a part time singing back in college). She also was the one who's there for me when a boyfriend dumps me. She was actually one of my most trusted friends.

We parted ways when I worked in a call center in Pampanga. We got reunited when she also decided to work there. By that time, it was my turn to help her since we discovered that she was pregnant. The guy doesn't care about her so Cathy decided to go on with the pregnancy and decided to raise the baby alone although I was with her all throughout the pregnancy and also when she delivered her pretty baby girl - CJ.

We once again parted ways because I decided to work here in Manila. It was really hard for me to go but then unavoidable circumstances forced me to leave Pampanga. I had a lot of great friends over there that I still miss up to now. I haven't found someone like them here in Manila yet even though I've been here for more than a year already. I still long for their company especially Cathy's.

We still communicate but it seldom happened because we both have been busy with our lives. I also haven't visited them for quite a while now. I called her the other day and asked how she and CJ have been. I know she has been experiencing financial difficulties even a few months back and I just felt guilty because there were times I couldn't help her because I also have my own problems.

Just this past couple of days I've learned that a friend of ours has been courting her. She asked an advise from me about the guy. His name is Kiko and I knew that he has been eyeing on Cathy since we were in college. And since me and Kiko were on the same church (he's also a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo), I then told her that I would be glad to see them together! Even though I don't know Kiko that much, since we were on the same "faith", I am confident that he will take care of Cathy and CJ.

I am really happy for my friend. After all that Cathy has been through, she deserve someone who is God-fearing and responsible and basically better that CJ's biological father. I am also happy because she will soon experience the same faith as mine. I just want her to be happy and I just hope that Kiko is definitely God's sent for her and that he is the answer to Cathy's prayers.

As always, I will keep on praying for my friend's life of happiness and peace!

Updates About Me And American Idol

Hi everyone! I hope you guys are having a great day! I haven't posted on this blog yesterday because I was feeling tired, stressed out and really felt bad about not being with my Mom on her 62nd birthday yesterday. So I decided to get a massage yesterday to ease my anxiety. And it worked! I'm now back on my feet and I really feel good today! I had a great sleep last night that I haven't even woke up on the sound of my alarm at 2am. I actually came late for work today! That wasn't a good start, though! Yet it didn't ruin my day at all! Lol!

Anyways, let me give you a few updates about American Idol this week.

We bid goodbye to two contestants - Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez since they were the ones who had the least number of votes. The judges' "twist" on the show, which is saving one contestant from being voted out, didn't work for both Jasmine and Jorge.

The Idol contestants did their own versions of Michael Jackson's songs and it made Anoop Desai and Megan Corkery almost on the brink of getting through to the competition. I was also disappointed with their performances last Thursday.

Anoop did a karaoke-like version of MJ's "Beat It" which made Simon regret his decision of retaining Anoop to the contest. Megan, on the other hand, did a terrible performance last Thursday. Her Megan-moves (which is more of wiggling and giggling) did not seem to synchronize with the song. With her performance, she didn't get favorable comments from the judges.

Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert where at their best this week. Danny's performance with the song "Pretty Young Thing" made Paula dance. I am actually starting to like Danny.

Adam, as always, did a great job when he performed "Black Or White". His voice range is really amazing. And I agree with Paula when she said that Adam is on his way to the Finals!

Movie Review - Milk

I bought a DVD movie when I was on my way home yesterday. I picked Milk because I was interested with how Sean Penn played the role as the gay activist Harvey Milk. Penn was awarded as Best Actor In A Leading Role by the prestigious award giving body - The Oscar's 2008.

After seeing the movie, I could really say that Penn deserved the award! Just like his role as a mentally-handicapped father in I Am Sam, he once again lost himself on this gay character as Harvey Milk.

Milk is a true to life story about a camera storeowner who became the first openly gay man who was elected for a political office in the United States. This movie showed how Milk fought for gay rights and how homosexuals during the 70's fought for equality. Here's a trailer of the movie:

I know this movie isn't that appealing to everybody. It doesn't appeal that much to me either. I have nothing against gay people. I even enjoy their company. But I believe on what the Bible said about God creating just men and women.

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!!!

Eraserhead's "The Final Set"

Eraserhead's reunion concert 2 which is entitled "The Final Set" is going to happen tonight at SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. As most Filipinos know, tonight's event is the continuation of the band's previous concert last August 30, 2008 wherein was cut short because of Ely Buendia's (lead vocals) heart condition. Due to public demand, the concert sequel has pursued.

MTV Philippines handles the production of the concert tonight. Too bad I can't be there again. Lol! Blame it to the financial constraint!

To all Eraserheads fans... Enjoy the concert!!!

Not Final 12 But Final 13 of American Idol Season 9

It was indeed a surprise to everyone when Simon announced that it's going to be a final 13 this season instead of final 12! It made me glad actually since I really wanted Anoop to still be part of the show. 2 of my favorites came through last night - Megan Corkrey and Anoop! Woohoo!!!

Now ladies and Gentlemen, here are the Final 13 contestants:

Adam, Alexis, Allison, Anoop, Danny, Jasmine, Jorge, Kris, Lil, Matt, Megan, Michael and Scott

From this contestants, a new American Idol will soon rise. Who among these contestants is your bet???

Another 3 of American Idol's Top 12

Last night, 3 finalists for American Idol top 12 were revealed. The 3rd batch had really talented contestants but then only 3 has to go through to the next round. The lucky yet deserving contestants are:

Lil Rounds

She sang Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You" and nailed the song with confidence. She left Simon stunned by her performance.

Scott MacIntyre

He's the legally blind I hoped could go through, and fortunately, my hope didn't falter this time! Lol! He's rendition of the song "Mandolin Rain" by Bruce Hornsby and the Range was heartwarming. I can't wait for him to perform with his piano!

Jorge Nunez

Singing Elton John's song "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" showcased the Puerto Rican's powerful voice the other night. Aside from his good performance, his personality as the funny bilingual yet sentimental guy helped him win more votes over the soulful performance of Ju'Not Joyner who also is one of my prospects for the top 12.

Shortly after these three enjoyed their moment of triumph on stage, the judges unveiled the 8 wild card round contestants who will compete for the final 3 spots in the top 12. That's actually going to happen tonight: Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth, Megan Joy Corkrey, Anoop Desai and Tatiana Del Toro.

Tatiana is still part of the show! Geez! I was actually surprised with that when her name was called! Anyways, American Idol hasn't had enough of her drama. We will be seeing more of her then. Lol! I hope Megan Corkery gets a spot on the top 12 this time!

2nd 3 of American Idol's Top 12

The second 3 of American Idol was revealed last week. Honestly, I was quite disappointed with the result because Megan Corkery, who was my favorite on that batch, wasn't included on the second three for the top 12 of AI. It took a few days before I got over with my dissatisfaction of the result that's why I haven't posted about this update last week. Lol!

Anyways, the 2nd 3 are:
Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert

Kris Allen sang his version of "Man In The Mirror" by Michael Jackson. He was able to pull it off even without his guitar that night.

The 16-years-old Allison Iraheta did a great job when she sang "Alone". I like her voice and I like that she takes her performance seriously. I think she would stay longer on the show however, her style isn't that unique. She's always compared to the original American Idol - Kelly Clarkson. But then, she still has a long way to go. I hope she would be able to discover her own style during the show and that she could create her own identity in the music industry.

Who wouldn't remember Adam Lambert? Of course he is memorable amongst all the other contestants! He's got high range of vocals and really had his time when he performed "Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones last week. As what Randy Jackson said, Adam is one of the most current artists they ever had on the show. He even added - "It's like a combination of Steven Tyler meets Fall Out Boy meets Robert Pattinson from Twilight meets My Chemical Romance". I definitely agree!

The 3rd batch is going to perform tonight. I'm looking forward to Scott MacIntyre's performance. He is the most anticipated contestant because he's the first legally blind who got through to the competition.

Let's enjoy the show tonight!

Watched " The International" Instead...

I have mentioned on my previous post that we are going to watch the movie "He's Just Not That Into You" last Saturday. We actually checked the 3 Ayala Malls (The Fort, Greenbelt and Glorrieta) but to our dismay, the movie wasn't available. Apparently, Sarah Geronimo took over most of the Cinemas on those malls. We were actually disappointed because we all looked forward into seeing the movie. We ended up watching "The International" which is starred by Clive Owen as the investigator Louis Salinger.

The International is an action-thriller about an investigator who obsessively wants to take an International Bank down. He believe that the bank is involved on money laundering activities and is responsible for supporting arms for the third world countries through financial allegiance. While digging deeper into the investigation, Salinger discovers that the bank has great influence (even with the law enforcement) and that it makes sure that those who are involved and wants to come clean ends up dead.

The movie will make you dodge especially on the intense shoot-out scenes. It will make you feel you're part of the action!

I still want to watch "He's Just Not That Into You"! I hope I could find someone to watch it with this week...
